TLDR A 12-year-old boy's hair fully regrew after 8 weeks of treatment for tinea capitis, and dermoscopy was useful for diagnosis and monitoring.
A 12-year-old boy with tinea capitis and partial alopecia was successfully treated with oral griseofulvin and ketoconazole shampoo, resulting in full hair regrowth after 8 weeks. Dermoscopic examination, which revealed fine scale, broken hairs, and comma hair, proved to be a valuable, non-invasive technique for diagnosing and monitoring hair loss due to tinea capitis. This method was found to be simple, quick, and well-accepted by both dermatologists and patients.
