Fungi and Blood Deficiency Factors Associated with Alopecia Patients in Al-Muthanna Province, Iraq

Samples from 50 patients (20 males and 30 females) revealed six fungal taxa, with Microsporum canis being the most prevalent at a frequency rate of 78.2%. The study also examined the relationship between hair loss and iron deficiency, finding that 17 out of 23 tested samples showed ferritin deficiency. The research emphasizes the importance of identifying fungi contributing to hair loss and highlights the role of hormonal fluctuations and lifestyle in managing alopecia, particularly in younger individuals.
