This case-control study from 2016 investigated the relationship between female sexual dysfunction (FSD) and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in premenopausal women. The study found that FSD was more prevalent in patients with AGA compared to those without AGA, and that age, AGA, metabolic syndrome, and free testosterone were independent risk factors for FSD. The study suggests that further investigation is needed to understand the role of hormones, ischemia, inflammation, and psychosocial situation on the development of FSD in patients with MetS and/or AGA. The study provides important insights into the relationship between FSD and AGA in premenopausal women.
