TLDR The incision along the superior temporal line is safe and looks good for bald male patients.
This study investigates the cosmetic and surgical outcomes of frontotemporal craniotomy with a skin incision along the superior temporal line in bald male patients with temporal gliomas. Conducted between 2015 and 2022, the study involved 33 patients divided into three groups: bald males with non-concealed incisions (n=13), males with concealed incisions (n=11), and females with concealed incisions (n=9). The results showed that bald male patients had no complaints about the incision scar, and the cosmetic outcome was excellent, with no surgical site infections or facial nerve palsy. The incision length was shortest in the bald male group, while the craniotomy size and resection extent were similar across all groups. The study concludes that the incision along the superior temporal line is a cosmetically favorable, feasible, and safe procedure for bald male patients.
