TLDR The procedure is effective for reducing the forehead despite potential for visible scars.
The study reviewed the outcomes of 31 patients who underwent frontal region reduction with a pre-hairline incision from 2005 to 2011. Indications included brow ptosis, fine and sparse frontal hair, congenital long forehead, or extensive forehead wrinkling. Over an average follow-up of 1.5 years, all patients experienced temporary paresthesia, resolving within a year, and three developed postoperative seromas, managed with aspiration. Despite the potential for a more visible scar, all patients felt the benefits of hairline reduction outweighed the drawbacks. The procedure was recommended for those with specific forehead and hair characteristics seeking reduction.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.

A user started taking 0.625mg oral minoxidil daily for hair loss, increased the dose to 1.25mg, and experienced a significant shed, losing 70% of scalp density. They cannot tolerate finasteride due to side effects but are hopeful for hair regrowth despite the shedding.
