TLDR Combining fractional CO2 laser or microneedling with 5-FU is more effective and safer for treating vitiligo.
This study compared the effectiveness of two treatments for non-segmental vitiligo in 30 patients: fractional CO2 laser followed by topical 5 Fluorouracil (5-FU) and microneedling followed by 5-FU. The results indicated that combining either fractional CO2 laser or microneedling with 5-FU is more effective and safer than using either treatment alone. This combination offers a new therapeutic approach for vitiligo, providing a beneficial treatment option for patients.
