TLDR Combining laser with PRP is more effective for vitiligo than PRP alone.
This study compared the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections alone versus a combination of fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) laser and PRP in treating vitiligo. Conducted on 20 adult patients with localized nonsegmental stable vitiligo, the study found that the combination treatment resulted in better patient satisfaction and improvement compared to PRP alone. The combined treatment showed a higher frequency of excellent improvement and significant size reduction of vitiligo lesions. The use of a dermoscope was beneficial in monitoring disease activity and treatment response. This study is notable for incorporating dermoscopy in the diagnosis and follow-up of vitiligo treatment.
