TLDR Hair loss improved after removing pituitary tumor.
The article describes a case of a 28-year-old woman with female pattern hair loss (FPHL) and acromegaly due to a GH-secreting pituitary adenoma. The patient had high serum GH and IGF-1 levels, which are recognized to enhance the proliferation of hair follicle cells. Following a trans-sphenoidal pituitary adenoma resection, the hair loss gradually improved without using any topical or systemic medication. The article highlights the importance of checking hormonal levels, including GH, when investigating the cause of FPHL.
