Studysummary In this study, a hair tonic containing fragrant pandan leaf extract and virgin coconut oil was formulated and evaluated, with most variations demonstrating physical stability except for one formulation, which showed instability in the specific gravity test. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
The study aimed to formulate and test the stability of a hair tonic combining fragrant pandan leaf extract and VCO, known for their antioxidant and hair treatment properties. The extraction used a maceration method with 96% ethanol, and stability was assessed through cycling tests and analyzed with a Sample Paired T-Test. Three formulations were tested: F1 (2.5%:2.5%), F2 (5%:2.5%), and F3 (7%:2.5%). All formulations met physical evaluation requirements for homogeneity, pH, and viscosity, but not for specific gravity before storage. Formulations F0, F1, and F2 were stable in storage, while F3 showed instability in specific gravity.
