TLDR The study successfully developed and evaluated effective topical formulations for skin treatments.
This study, conducted under Dr. Ajay K. Banga, focused on formulating and evaluating dermatological products for effective topical drug delivery. It involved four main aims: 1) developing an anhydrous gel with sertaconazole nitrate for fungal infections, which showed effective drug levels and non-irritation; 2) assessing menthol's skin absorption using in vitro permeation and rheological analysis, revealing sufficient penetration and structural stability; 3) formulating semi-solid vehicles with diclofenac sodium, demonstrating easy spreadability and viscoelasticity, with accurate release testing; and 4) creating a positively charged nanoemulsion for minoxidil, using iontophoresis to enhance absorption and reduce systemic uptake. The study highlighted the use of in vitro techniques for optimizing topical formulations.
