TLDR Lithium can cause skin changes similar to mycosis fungoides.
Follicular mycosis fungoides is a rare disease characterized by alopecia, follicular hyperkeratosis, comedo-like lesions, and acquired epidermal cysts, with lymphoma cells invading hair follicles. This report highlighted the first case of pseudolymphoma of the follicular mycosis fungoides type in a patient taking lithium carbonate, suggesting that lithium or a combination of lithium and haloperidol can induce mycosis fungoides-like skin changes. Dermatologists should be aware of this potential side effect in patients undergoing such treatments.
