Flea Allergy Dermatitis in a Dog: Therapeutic Management and Interventions

    A Pitbull dog with chronic Flea Allergy Dermatitis and alopecia on its lower back was successfully treated using a combination of Fipronil 9.8% & [S]-Methoprene 8.8% Spot-On Solution, Chlorhexidine and Miconazole shampoo, a topical ointment containing Miconazole, Ofloxacin, and Clobetasol, and oral administration of Cephalexin and Prednisolone. The treatment led to complete recovery and hair regrowth. The condition involves IgE antibodies and mast cell-derived mediators, with some dogs also showing basophil hypersensitivity and cell-mediated, delayed hypersensitivity.
