TLDR Finasteride may help treat Neutrophil Actin Dysfunction by reducing LSP1 gene activity.
The study investigated the effects of finasteride on the methylation and expression of the Lymphocyte Specific Protein 1 (LSP1) gene, which is involved in neutrophil motility and implicated in Neutrophil Actin Dysfunction. Human Leydig cells were treated with 0.5 μM finasteride for 14 days, and whole-genome DNA methylation analysis revealed that finasteride induced downregulation of the LSP1 gene through methylation. This suggests that finasteride could potentially be used to treat Neutrophil Actin Dysfunction by modulating the expression of LSP1.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
