TLDR Dense-packing follicular unit extraction is a safe and effective way to treat extensive scarring alopecia.
In a study conducted from 2015 to 2018, 52 patients with scarring alopecia larger than 100 cm2 were treated using dense-packing megasession follicular unit extraction (DPM-FUE). The procedure took an average of 8 hours and the mean scar area was 120 cm2. The survival rate of grafts in scarring alopecia patients was lower than in the 55 nonscarring alopecia control patients, but still reached 85%. Most patients were very satisfied with the results, which showed effective scar camouflage after DPM-FUE. The study concluded that DPM-FUE is a safe and effective treatment for extensive scarring alopecia.

A study that outlines the full model for androgenic alopecia (AGA) which links DHT to cellular senescence in dermal papilla cells, and suggests black chokeberry as a source of cyanidin 3-O-arabinoside polyphenol with potential anti-oxidant properties that could reverse this process. The post encourages reaching out to experts in anti-aging and longevity to research treatments involving the polyphenol.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
