TLDR RORs may influence cashmere growth cycles.
The study investigated the expression of retinoid-related orphan receptors (RORα, RORβ, and RORγ) in the skin of Inner Mongolia cashmere goats to determine if melatonin's effects might involve nuclear receptors. mRNA was extracted and analyzed from different stages of hair follicle development. The results showed that RORα, RORβ, and RORγ mRNA were expressed during catagen (January), early anagen (May), and anagen (September) phases, but not during the telogen phase (March). This suggested that RORs might be related to the cyclical growth of cashmere.
