TLDR Exosome therapy shows promise for hair loss but needs more research on safety and effectiveness.
Exosome therapy shows promise for hair regeneration and alopecia treatment, with preclinical studies highlighting benefits from exosomes derived from dermal papilla cells and adipose-derived stem cells. The review included 47 studies and identified key mechanisms such as the upregulation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and TNF-α signaling. Despite promising results in preclinical models and some pilot studies, significant gaps remain in understanding the safety, pharmacokinetics, delivery methods, and optimal exosome sources, necessitating further high-quality mechanistic studies and clinical trials for effective clinical translation.
