TLDR The EFH-SLM cream is more effective and gentler for treating excessive hair growth in women.
The study evaluated the effectiveness of a cream containing eflornithine hydrochloride loaded solid lipid microparticles (EFH-SLM) for treating hirsutism, a condition characterized by excessive hair growth in women. The research involved ex-vivo hair regrowth studies on healthy Swiss albino female mice. Results showed that the EFH-SLM cream was more effective than plain EFH cream, as it resulted in modest hair density and greater hair weight per cm² by day 21. The enhanced performance was attributed to the greater permeability of EFH from the EFH-SLM formulation. Additionally, the EFH-SLM cream caused fewer skin rashes and less inflammation compared to the plain EFH cream and marketed EFH cream, suggesting it as a preferable treatment option for hirsutism.
