TLDR Recognizing unusual brain and skin symptoms is crucial for diagnosing lupus early.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex, chronic autoimmune disease that predominantly affects young women and carries a high risk of premature death. Diagnosing SLE is challenging due to its wide range of clinical manifestations and severity, often relying on the 2019 ACR/EULAR classification criteria. Early diagnosis is crucial to prevent damage to vital organs and improve outcomes. This case report highlights the importance of recognizing atypical neuropsychiatric and dermatological symptoms in diagnosing SLE.
