TLDR lncRNA VIM-AS1 helps heal diabetic wounds by boosting energy production and reducing cell aging.
The study explores the role of extracellular vesicle-derived lncRNA VIM-AS1 in enhancing diabetic wound healing. Researchers used human umbilical mesenchymal stem cells to derive extracellular vesicles containing lncRNA VIM-AS1, which were tested on diabetic mouse models and 24 Sprague–Dawley rats. The findings indicate that lncRNA VIM-AS1 promotes glycolysis via the PPAR-γ pathway, reduces cellular senescence, and supports collagen deposition and angiogenesis, crucial for wound healing. This research suggests that HuMSCs-derived EVs containing lncRNA VIM-AS1 could be a novel therapeutic strategy for improving diabetic wound recovery by reprogramming glucose metabolism and enhancing cell function.
