TLDR Sinsun-yukza-hwan extract promotes hair growth in mice.
The study investigated the transdermal effects of the ethanol extract from Sinsun-yukza-hwan (SSY) on hair growth in C57BL/6 mice, an alopecia model. The SSY extract, containing 5-hydroxy-methyl-2-furaldehyde (HMF), was applied daily for 15 days. Results showed that both SSY and minoxidil significantly increased hair density and thickness compared to the vehicle group. Additionally, SSY extract significantly accelerated the expression of hair growth-associated genes, including IGF-1 and VEGF. These findings provided scientific evidence supporting SSY's potential as a cosmeceutical material for promoting hair growth.

Rosemary extract showed high inhibitory activity against DHT, similar to finasteride and dutasteride, but the conversation includes skepticism about its effectiveness in humans since the study was done on mice and rosemary oil is often considered ineffective based on personal experiences. Some suggest trying rosemary oil alongside other treatments, while others emphasize the difference between the extract used in the study and the oil.

Rotenone, a natural plant extract, may promote hair growth by increasing LDH activity and blocking MPC in the scalp, but it carries risks due to its toxicity. The suggested formulation includes Barbasco extract, DMSO, propylene glycol or PEG-400, ethanol, and a carrier oil.

community 2023 study: Novel Hemp extract causes great hair (allegedly better than fin/min) growth with little to no side effects. Photos included… Thoughts?

A novel hemp extract allegedly promotes better hair growth than minoxidil and finasteride, with minimal side effects, but the study's credibility is questioned due to potential bias and confounding factors like peppermint oil. Users express skepticism and suggest sticking with proven treatments like minoxidil and finasteride.
