TLDR Essential oils in a nanoemulsion help hair grow better than minoxidil 2% in mice.
The study investigates a nanoemulsion formulation using essential oils (Lavender, Peppermint, and Rosemary) for promoting hair growth, comparing its efficacy to minoxidil 2% in C57BL/6 mice. The essential oils were analyzed for their major constituents and antioxidant effects. Five different formulations were tested for optimal characteristics, including droplet size and stability. The optimized nanoemulsion demonstrated a significant hair growth-promoting effect in vivo, comparable to minoxidil 2%. An in silico study was also conducted to explore the mechanism of action of the oils' constituents. The research was conducted without specific funding and declared no conflicts of interest.
