TLDR Eruptive vellus hair cysts are often missed in diagnoses.
Eruptive vellus hair cysts (EVHC) are rare, benign tumors of the pilosebaceous unit characterized by cystic dilatation of hair follicles containing lamellated keratin and vellus hairs. This case report describes a 12-year-old boy with multiple asymptomatic lesions on various body parts, confirmed as EVHC through histopathological examination. The exact cause of EVHC is unknown, and it can be sporadic or inherited. Treatment options include topical keratolytic agents and laser ablation, though spontaneous resolution occurs in about 25% of cases. Histopathological examination is crucial for accurate diagnosis and differentiation from similar conditions.
