TLDR Topical antibiotics successfully treated a rare scalp condition in an elderly man with vitiligo.
Erosive pustular dermatosis of the scalp is a rare inflammatory skin disorder that typically affects elderly patients with sun-damaged skin and androgenic alopecia. The condition is often associated with autoimmune diseases and is usually treated with high-potency topical steroids. This case study presents an 84-year-old man with vitiligo who developed the condition. The patient was successfully treated with topical antibiotics and antiseptics, marking the first reported case of such a treatment approach. The patient's scalp returned to normal after four months. The study suggests that further research is needed to confirm the efficacy of topical antibiotics and antiseptics in treating erosive pustular dermatosis.
