TLDR Alopecia areata is common in young males and linked to stress.
The study conducted at Baquba Teaching Hospital examined 100 patients with alopecia areata, revealing a higher prevalence in males (71%) aged 21-30 years. The most common manifestation was a single patchy lesion, primarily on the head, with a significant recurrence rate of 55%. Additionally, 64% of patients reported a personal history of stress, suggesting a link between psychological stress and alopecia areata. The findings highlight the disease's prevalence among young males and its association with stress.
