A clinical trial was conducted to assess the efficacy of Verbascum songaricum Schrenk hair tonic in treating androgenetic alopecia. 26 male patients with II to IV grades of androgenetic alopecia were randomly assigned to receive either the hair tonic or a placebo tonic every other day for 6 months. After 6 months, 11 out of 14 patients in the hair tonic group showed improvements in stopping hair loss compared to only 4 out of 12 patients in the placebo group. Mild pruritus was seen in 2 out of 14 patients in the hair tonic group. The study concluded that the hair tonic was effective and well-tolerated in treating hair loss. However, further studies with longer periods of treatment were required to confirm these results.
