TLDR The marine protein complex, Viviscal®, was found to effectively reduce hair loss and improve hair, skin, and nails quality in women.
The 2017 study involving 52 women aged 25-50 years, investigated the effectiveness of a nutraceutical product, Viviscal®, in treating Telogen Effluvium, a common form of hair loss. Only 35 participants completed the 6-month treatment. The results showed a reduction in the number of telogen hair fibers and an increase in the total number of hair fibers in 83% of the participants after 6 months. The total number of hair fibers increased by 9.3%, the number of telogen hair fibers reduced by 19.6%, and the percentage of telogen hair fibers reduced by 25.6%. Participants also reported improvements in hair, skin, and nails, and life quality. By the end of the treatment, all assessed participants were satisfied with the treatment's effects. The study concluded that Viviscal® was safe and effective in reducing Telogen Effluvium.
