TLDR Longdan Xiegan decoction is more effective than conventional medicine for treating eczema.
The systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy of Longdan Xiegan Decoction (LDXGD) in treating eczema by analyzing 14 randomized controlled trials with 1,080 patients. The results showed that LDXGD, both alone and combined with Western medicine, improved cure rates and total effective rates compared to Western medicine alone. LDXGD also reduced inflammatory markers IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α, and lowered recurrence rates when combined with hormonal drugs. However, the study noted methodological limitations and potential biases, indicating the need for further high-quality research to confirm these findings. Adverse reactions were reported but were not significantly different from control groups.
