TLDR Astringent persimmon fruit extract may help hair grow longer and cover more area without increasing the number of hair follicles.
In 2020, a study was conducted to investigate the hair restoration efficacy of astringent persimmon fruit extracts on a genetically predisposed to balding pattern Black mice model. The mice were treated with a water extract of astringent persimmon fruit (10 mg/mouse/day) daily until the completion of two full hair growth generations. The results showed that the hair existing area and hair length significantly increased (P > 0.001) in the mice treated with astringent persimmon fruit compared to the control mice. However, the number of hair follicles did not remarkably increase after the treatment. The data suggested that the topical application of astringent persimmon fruit may promote hair growth by extending the hair existing area and increasing hair length, which is an indicator of a prolonged anagen phase.

      community Verteporfin and Microneedling

      in Treatments 5 months ago
Clinical studies by Dr. Barghouthi and Dr. Bloxham indicate that Verteporfin, when used with FUE and FUT hair transplantation methods, shows promise in hair follicle regeneration and minimal scarring due to its ability to inhibit Yes-associated protein (YAP). Microneedling at depths of 3-3.5mm, combined with Verteporfin, could potentially reactivate dormant follicles, although the optimal dosage and application method are still under investigation. Concerns remain about the DHT sensitivity of regenerated follicles, highlighting the need for further research to optimize trauma levels and Verteporfin concentrations to achieve effective and scar-free hair regeneration.
