The Effective Components and Mechanism of the Kernel of Prunus Mira Koehne to Promote Hair Growth

    TLDR Prunus mira Koehne kernels contain components like Vitamin E, β-sitosterol, and linoleic acid that can promote hair growth in mice.
    The study aimed to identify the components in the kernel of Prunus mira Koehne that promote hair growth and their mechanisms. Using network pharmacology, 149 targets for the chemical composition and alopecia in the kernel were found, and 12 alopecia related pathways were identified. The average content of oleic acid, linoleic acid, and amygdalin in 12 batches from different producing areas was determined to be 428.91mg/mL, 99.89mg/mL, and 17.27 mg/mL respectively. The study found that Vitamin E (3.125 mg/cm2/d), β-sitosterol (0.061 mg/cm2/d), and linoleic acid (0.156 mg/cm2/d) in the kernel can promote hair growth in mice, possibly through the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. However, these components had no significant effect on the protein expression of the four indicators. The study established a method for determining the content of oleic acid, linoleic acid, and amygdalin in the kernel, improving its quality standard.
