TLDR Injecting melatonin improves cashmere yield by enhancing fiber growth in goats.
The study investigated the effects of injecting melatonin capsules on the skin follicles of Longdong cashmere goats. It was found that while there were no significant differences in follicle diameter, depth, density, and S/P ratio between the experimental and control groups, the survival rate of the experimental group was higher. Additionally, a higher level of melatonin slightly increased these effects compared to a lower level. The study concluded that exogenous melatonin improved cashmere yield by promoting the growth and development of secondary follicles, delaying the growth period, and increasing the length and number of cashmere fibers.
