🚨 The study focuses on skin issues and aging, which are tangentially related to human biology and wound healing, but it does not directly address hair, hair loss, or alopecia.
TLDR Ectoin helps prevent cortisone-induced skin problems and supports skin health.
The study demonstrates that Ectoin, an amino acid derivative, effectively mitigates cortisone-induced skin issues and UVB-induced overexpression of 11β-HSD1 without adverse effects on cell viability at concentrations up to 1 mg/mL. Ectoin enhances the expression of key skin barrier proteins and collagen type I while reducing MMP-1 secretion, thereby preserving skin barrier integrity and counteracting skin aging. Mechanistically, Ectoin disrupts glucocorticoid receptor (GR) signaling and inhibits GR phosphorylation, suggesting its potential in treating stress-related skin aging and barrier dysfunction.
