TLDR Many men with androgenic alopecia also have dyslipidemia.
The cross-sectional study conducted at Dr. Ruth K.M Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan from May 31, 2021 to November 30, 2021, aimed to determine the frequency of dyslipidemia in male patients presenting with androgenic alopecia. The mean age of the patients was 46.9±7.9 years, and 25.6% of them had documented diabetes mellitus. The study found that 64.8% of the patients had dyslipidemia. The conclusion of the study is that dyslipidemia is commonly prevalent in patients presenting with androgenic alopecia. The authors suggest that more prospective and well-controlled clinical trials are needed to validate these findings.
