The study evaluates the hair growth-promoting potential of Durdhuradi Taila, an Ayurvedic formulation, by modulating 5α-reductase gene expression, which is involved in the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is known to shorten the hair growth cycle and cause hair loss. The research highlights the importance of understanding the biological mechanisms of alopecia, particularly androgenic alopecia, which affects nearly 50% of men and women. The study suggests that traditional formulations like Durdhuradi Taila may nourish the scalp, strengthen hair roots, and promote regrowth, offering a holistic approach to managing hair loss.
