TLDR A 5-year-old girl's scalp scarring and hair loss from lupus improved with specific medications.
A 5-year-old girl with discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE), a rare condition in children, presented with erythematous scaly plaques and scarring alopecia affecting 40% of her scalp. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis. The treatment regimen included intravenous methylprednisolone, hydroxychloroquine, oral prednisone, topical corticosteroids, and sunscreen. This combination led to the reversal of scarring alopecia and regrowth of hair, demonstrating a dramatic response to the treatment.
