TLDR A 5-year-old girl's scalp scarring and hair loss from lupus improved with specific medications.
A 5-year-old girl with discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) presented with erythematous scaly plaques and scarring alopecia covering 40% of her scalp. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis. Treatment with intravenous methylprednisolone, hydroxychloroquine, oral prednisone, topical corticosteroids, and sunscreen resulted in the reversal of scarring alopecia and hair regrowth.
