TLDR A 5% concentration of Dorema aucheri extract significantly improves diabetic wound healing.
This study investigated the effects of Dorema aucheri hydroalcoholic extract on wound healing in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats, using 48 Sprague-Dawley rats divided into groups with varying concentrations of the extract in CMC gel. The results showed that 2% and 5% concentrations significantly improved wound healing by enhancing collagen density, reducing inflammation, and promoting fibroblast proliferation and angiogenesis, with the 5% extract being particularly effective. The extract's bioactive compounds, such as phenolic acids and flavonoids, contribute to these effects. However, the 10% extract was less beneficial, possibly due to higher porosity affecting blood vessel formation. The study suggests potential therapeutic applications for diabetic wound healing, but further research is needed to determine safe and effective dosages and to confirm efficacy and safety in humans.
