TLDR Diode laser hair removal is effective and safe, but side effects vary by ethnicity and treatment number.
This study, conducted on 217 individuals of various ethnicities, examined the side effects of diode laser hair removal using an 805 nm wavelength. It found that the occurrence of side effects such as sensitivity, hyperpigmentation, and burns was significantly influenced by ethnicity, while erythema was not. The number of treatments also affected the severity of side effects, with more treatments increasing the incidence of erythema and burns. Despite these side effects, which were transient, the treatment was deemed effective and safe across different ethnic groups according to the Fitzpatrick scale.
