TLDR MXD@CP could be a promising new topical treatment for hair loss.
The study introduces a new polymeric formulation, MXD@CP, using citric acid dimethylsiloxane polymer for the transdermal delivery of Minoxidil (MXD), a common hair loss treatment. This formulation aims to mitigate the side effects associated with oral MXD by enabling topical application. The MXD@CP was shown to effectively load MXD up to 5%, a clinically relevant concentration, and demonstrated superior hair growth and hair follicle formation in comparison to MXD@PBS. The results from animal studies suggest that MXD@CP could be a promising next-generation treatment for hair loss.
