TLDR Diabetex improves diabetic wound healing better than metformin.
The study, conducted on 60 adult Sprague-Dawley albino rats, explored the effectiveness of Diabetex, a compound containing L-alanine, D-ribose, nicotinic acid, and calcium ascorbate, in diabetic wound healing. The rats, which had full-thickness wounds induced, were divided into control and treated groups, with the treated group receiving Diabetex. The results indicated that Diabetex significantly enhanced wound healing, collagen formation, re-epithelialization, and neovascularization, and it also increased levels of cytokines important for wound healing. Diabetex was found to be safe for liver and kidney function and also significantly reduced fasting blood sugar levels, showing potential as a more economical and safe treatment for diabetic wounds compared to metformin. Additionally, Diabetex led to better wound healing outcomes than metformin, with increased collagen deposition, new blood vessel formation, and skin appendage regeneration.
