TLDR Hair loss was the most common skin issue among healthcare workers with COVID-19.
The study investigated dermatological manifestations in healthcare professionals with confirmed COVID-19, involving 280 respondents out of 641 eligible participants. Hair loss was the most common symptom, reported by 78.3% of respondents, followed by erythematous lesions (17.5%) and red papules (14%). Pruritus and paresthesia were also frequently associated symptoms. In 11.2% of cases, skin manifestations were the sole indicator of infection. A significant association was found between prophylactic vitamin D use and red papules, though the small sample size warrants cautious interpretation. The findings emphasize the need for systematic dermatological evaluation in this population, even without visible lesions, and suggest further investigation into the link between vitamin D and erythematous lesions.
