Dermatologic Manifestations of Patients With Severe and Non-Severe COVID-19 Infection: A Cross-Sectional Study

    TLDR COVID-19 can cause various skin issues, with some linked to how severe the illness is.
    This cross-sectional study examined dermatologic manifestations in 86 COVID-19 patients (50 female, 36 male) at a dermatologic clinic. The study found 18 specific types of skin complications, with maculopapular rash and scalp hair loss being the most common. Statistically significant differences were observed in the onset of maculopapular rash, telogen effluvium, and papular urticaria relative to COVID-19 symptom onset. Additionally, maculopapular rash, telogen effluvium, and urticaria were significantly associated with the severity of COVID-19. The study concludes that a wide range of skin lesions can occur in COVID-19 patients, with certain dermatologic manifestations linked to disease severity.
