TLDR COVID-19 can cause temporary hair loss.
This retrospective study conducted at Tejas Skin Clinic in Prayagraj from February to June 2021 analyzed the incidence of acute Telogen Effluvium (TE) following COVID-19 infection. Out of 63 patients with a history of COVID-19 and acute hair loss, 47 (74.6%) were diagnosed with TE, with a higher prevalence in females (72.4%) compared to males (27.6%). The findings suggest that TE is a potential sequela of COVID-19, typically occurring 1-3 months post-infection. The study highlights the need to consider SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients presenting with acute TE during the pandemic.
