TLDR COVID-19 can cause significant hair loss.
The study assessed hair loss in 80 patients post-COVID-19 infection using trichoscopy and trichogram. Results showed that 63% had a positive hair pull test, and 70 patients exhibited telogen effluvium (TE) with a significant decrease in hair density. Dermoscopic features such as peripilar sign, yellow dots, anisotrichosis, and perifollicular scaling were identified as diagnostic criteria. The study concludes that SARS-CoV-2 infection should be suspected in patients presenting with acute TE.
