Dermal papilla cells, derived from fibroblasts, are mesenchymal cells that form the dermal papilla, express androgen receptors, secrete various cytokines, and induce hair follicle regeneration, playing a crucial role in regulating the cyclical growth of hair follicles. These cells are involved in androgen metabolism, and androgens induce susceptible hair follicle dermal papilla cells to secrete cytokines, leading to hair loss, indicating a close relationship between dermal papilla cells and androgenetic alopecia.
