TLDR Training programs for aesthetic plastic surgeons should consider demographic and organizational factors.
The study surveyed 290 aesthetic plastic surgeons in Guangdong, China, revealing that over 60% transitioned from other specialties, with one-third having less than three years of experience. Both government and private hospital surgeons shared similar demographics, but government hospital surgeons were more likely to hold graduate degrees. There is a strong desire for continuing training, particularly in rhinoplasty and eye surgery, with barriers including lack of work replacement and training expenses. The study suggests training programs should address these demographic and organizational needs, considering the focus on academic development in government hospitals and customer experience in private hospitals.
