TLDR Doctors can quickly learn necessary skills and perform more procedures due to a strong educational system.
The study examined 243 doctors in a large Japanese cosmetic surgery group to understand how their backgrounds influenced their growth as cosmetic surgeons. The group included 154 males with a median age of 33. The doctors were categorized as trainees (28%), certified (45.3%), and preceptors (26.7%). Factors like gender, area, or personality scores did not affect the transition period from trainee to certified doctor or preceptor. However, medical history and surgical experience did influence this period by about two months. The study concluded that doctors, regardless of their previous experience, could acquire necessary skills within a few months due to the group's robust educational system, leading to significant and rapid growth in the number of procedures performed.
