TLDR Botulinum toxin injections effectively relieve pain from cutaneous leiomyomas.
The document reported a case of a 36-year-old male with hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer syndrome (HLRCC) who experienced multiple painful cutaneous leiomyomas (CLM). Traditional oral analgesics were ineffective, so intralesional botulinum toxin A (BTA) was administered, providing immediate pain relief and maintaining efficacy with repeated treatments every 3 months over 1.5 years. The study highlighted that BTA is a safe and effective alternative for managing pain associated with CLM, especially when surgery is not feasible due to the extent of lesions or aesthetic concerns. The findings were supported by previous case reports and a randomized trial, which demonstrated improvements in pain and quality of life with BTA treatment.
