TLDR Botulinum toxin injections effectively relieve pain from cutaneous leiomyomas.
The document reported a case of a 36-year-old male with hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer syndrome (HLRCC) who had multiple painful cutaneous leiomyomas. Traditional treatments were ineffective, so intralesional botulinum toxin A (BTA) injections were administered, providing immediate pain relief and maintaining efficacy over repeated treatments every 3 months for 1.5 years. The study concluded that intralesional BTA is a safe and effective alternative for managing pain in cutaneous leiomyomas, especially when surgery is not viable due to lesion extent or aesthetic concerns.
