TLDR Removing breast implants resolved the patient's symptoms.
This case report discusses a female patient in her mid-40s with a history of autoimmune thyroiditis who developed symptoms consistent with breast implant illness (BII) after breast augmentation. Her symptoms, including chronic fatigue, hair loss, and dry skin, worsened following a COVID-19 infection and subsequent Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination. The report suggests a synergistic effect of the infection and vaccination on her BII symptoms, leading to further complications such as long COVID symptoms and new allergies. Despite numerous screenings over 18 months, the cause of her symptoms remained inconclusive until an MRI indicated a possible implant rupture. The patient's symptoms resolved within three weeks after the removal of the implants with en bloc capsulectomy.
