TLDR Thyroid disorders are linked to skin issues and autoimmune skin diseases.
This study, conducted with 400 participants over 18 months, investigates the cutaneous manifestations associated with thyroid disorders and their link to autoimmune dermatological conditions. It highlights a female predominance in thyroid disorders, particularly hypothyroidism, with the most affected age group being 31-40 years. Common symptoms in hypothyroid patients include dry skin (67.83%) and telogen effluvium (65.7%), while hyperthyroid patients frequently experience warm skin (93.3%) and increased sweating. Urticaria (33%) is the most common autoimmune association, followed by vitiligo (11.75%) and alopecia areata (6.25%) in both hypo and hyperthyroid patients. The study concludes that thyroid disorders are significantly associated with various cutaneous and autoimmune dermatological diseases.
