TLDR Condensed nanofat with fat grafts effectively improves atrophic facial scars.
In a study conducted at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, 20 patients with a total of 25 atrophic facial scars were treated with a novel technique using condensed nanofat combined with fat grafts. The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of this treatment from both aesthetic and functional perspectives. The results showed significant improvements in scar assessment scores postoperatively for color, stiffness, thickness, and irregularity as evaluated by the patients and observers using the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS). Additionally, there was a notable increase in melanin in the basal cell layer and the presence of sebaceous and sweat glands post-treatment. The study concluded that condensed nanofat combined with fat grafts is an effective approach for treating atrophic facial scars, as evidenced by the improved POSAS scores and histological findings.
