TLDR Adult women with acne in Iraq often have more severe symptoms and hormone-related issues than younger girls with acne.
A three-year study on 340 Iraqi women with acne found that clinical and biochemical signs of hyperandrogenism were more prevalent in post-adolescent acne (72% severe) than in adolescent acne (78.5% mild to moderate) or early adult-onset acne (77.5% moderate to moderately severe). The study recommends a full evaluation, including hormonal analysis and pelvic ultrasound examination, for all females with acne to detect hormonal imbalances early and provide appropriate treatment.
